!

Audio is my domain and it is a strange land, filled with the sound of crying babies, exploding giblets and orthodontal machinery. But it's not all fun.

I have to keep my life organised and punctual, while being a twisted creative-type and the two extremes don't always mix... this is called a challenge and because of it I reckon my work is constantly improving!

I also get paid a pretty reasonable amount of money for having no life... which is much better than being that way for free!

I came through one of the 'traditional' paths into the industry. I started as a (VERY) keen hobbyist then rose through the ranks to obsessed otaku, with a few stop-overs at games retail management. I did a spell as an illustrator for Nintendo's club magazine, wrote a couple of articles for news-stand magazines and wrote my first CD with Music 2000 on Playstation.

It almost seemed like a joke, but I put mammoth amounts of effort into the project, making it look as 'professional' as I could. Then out of courtesy, I sent it to Jester... I thought they'd be amused. Though of course, they were slightly more than amused, they gave me a job shortly after and that was my big break.

I've been with the company for all of four months now. Just call me the veteran!.

Well, being here! Buying my DVD player and knowing that it was paid for by doing what I love most... er, I mean creating sound, not what you may have been thinking!!!

Probably Space Invaders on the Atari 2600 VCS or some BASIC type-in on the ZX81, I can't remember. Or maybe it was Donkey Kong Game and Watch or something? It's going back quite a way now and I'm old enough to know better than to tell people my age.

Ever? Tricky one. The orginal Bomberman on PC Engine was fun... and I think that it was the first machine to get a multi-tap for sociable gaming.

Look what it started!

Dead or Alive 2 on Dreamcast is always good for short bouts of frenzied button pushing. And the Final Fantasy series is good. Favourite isn't a term I like using. There's a lot of innovation out there and I like getting my grubby little claws on as much of it as I can!

Well that's Black and White on-line, no doubt about it. Phantasy Star Online when I get round to it... and there are some fun new versions of Music waiting in the wings!

Skimpy knickered fighting babes standing over air-vents, the ability to play god and... smart design is always appreciated (though it's thin on the ground sometimes!).

Anything and everything. Life!!!

Oh yeah: work seriously hard at making your dreams come true. But never forget to dream bigger dreams. It can happen! Drum it into your brain until you're there... it can happen, it will happen!!! And have faith in your abilities.

Not too hard to predict for the next few years. There will be a continued stream of clones in every genre, naturally, but gaming will rapidly become more immersive and keep pushing at the boundaries. Quite what this means in the longer term is hard to say. Even the full-on techno wizards at the cutting edge have difficulty saying where it's all going.

But then that's the best part of it, the unpredictability of life. I'd LIKE to see technology like the internet, computers and lasers (created initially for military purposes - like basically taking lives), bringing people together and moving warfare purely into the realms of the pixel. And it will be convincingly bloody by then!

Sure, countries could still go to war, but the casualties would be virtual.

I'll get off me soap box now!
